Vinyl soffit isn’t used in my area. We use aluminum soffit typically. I use a narrow crown stapler for the install with 1” staples. The fascia lip will overlap and cover the staple heads. This fascia varied from 21” - 25” throughout this job, so it’s a good thing the fascia lip is 1.5”. The Dewalt 20 volt narrow crown stapler is the only brand I’ve found for the nose to be able to fit into 1/2” soffit J trim. I’ve been told Ryobi fits as well. I developed this way of wrapping columns when I sided my own house 17 years ago. It’s a nice clean look and since the fasteners are far from the bend, you won’t get any oil canning of the metal as the pieces “float”.
