Trying to shed whistling as an ear training exercise. Like singing, one really has to hear the pitches and not hide behind fingering notes on the saxophone. I've always believed brass players tend to have stronger ears among us instrumentalists for this reason. If you only have a trombone slide or three keys on the trumpet, then you definitely have to hear where you are going!
