As high school seniors receive admissions decisions, we’d like to explain more about our process | The University of Texas at Austin

We were lucky enough to stumble upon a salmon run in Humpy Creek at Grewingk glacier’s intertidal zone/beach zone while sampling! They were fighting against the current to make it to their spawning site. We admired them in awe. This video was taken by a drone used by our lab during our fieldwork in Kachemak Bay this past August. I am a 4th-year PhD candidate in the Nielsen Lab at UTMSI, the lead student on the project. I study the mercury cycle in glaciated watersheds undergoing glacial retreat.
