How wide do you pull on butterfly?The initial outsweep on butterfly is something that we see a lot of variance in with swimmers who come to us. Here’s what we’ve noticed with the best butterflyers:👉 Land with the hands narrow (especially if your stroke rate is below 60-65 strokes/min)👉 Out-sweep to just outside the shoulders as you initiate the catch👉 Slight in-sweep to go slightly narrower than the shoulders as the hands approach the belly button👉 Slight out-sweep again as the wrists extend
