An explosion at a fireworks factory in China’s Hunan ​province killed 21 people and injured 61 on Monday, prompting ‌President Xi Jinping to call for a thorough investigation, state media reported.

The blast occurred at the Huasheng fireworks plant in Liuyang, located in Hunan Province about 1,000 miles south of Beijing, at approximately 4:43 p.m. local time.
